Handmade with Love | Block 4 Half Square Triangle Present
It’s time to say Hello to block 4, the Half Square Triangle Present quilt block from our Handmade with Love Sew-Along!
It’s official, this block marks the halfway point in our quilt along and we are getting excited!

- Quilting ruler, rotary cutter, and mat
The Half Square Triangle Present quilt block is made from 3 colorful prints and will help you perfect those points.
This block is easy to make and as you might have guessed, is all about the half square triangle.
Since we had already practiced making HST’s in block 3, we followed the same techniques and made the most of our time at the machine.
Really, it was trimming our HST’s down to size that took the most time. Accuracy counts when trimming, but thanks to the help of the Clearly Perfect Slotted ruler, we were able to complete the task quickly!

To reduce bulk at the points, it is important to press your seams properly and nest your seams. Now, if you are not sure what nesting is, take a look at this quick video from Abracadabra Quilting.
You will need to make 3 Half Square Triangle Present quilt blocks to complete the Handmade with Love quilt top. We finished the base of our presents but decided to hold off on adding the bows until we were ready to assemble. This way, we could line up our blocks and see if an extra pop of color was needed to help keep things balanced.
