Handmade with Love | Sew Along
It’s time to do something different on Sewing with Scraps, a sew along! Since the holidays will be here in the blink of an eye we thought it would be fun to stitch something special, together. Say Hello to the Handmade with Love Quilt Along.
The Handmade With Love Sew-Along will be kicking off on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020. There is no fee to join but you will need to gather and maybe purchase a few supplies, including the pattern.
Supplies Needed:
- Handmade with Love Pattern by Thimble Blooms
- 20 Fat Quarters or assorted fabric scraps
- 1 yard of white fabric for blocks
- 3 1/2 yards background fabric
- 3/4 yard for binding
- 4 1/2 yards quilting cotton for backing
- 80″ x 80″ quilt batting
- sewing thread
- rotary cutter & cutting mat
- quilting ruler
- iron
- sewing machine
Handmade with Love Sew Along Details
Start Date: September 1, 2020
Finish Date: November 24, 2020
Where to Buy the Pattern: The Handmade with Love pattern is available in both an instant download and printed copy at the Fat Quarter Shop.
Fabric Options: We encourage you to pull fabrics from your stash but also understand the need to pick up a few pretties. Here are a few of our favorite Fat Quarter Bundles. (from top left to right- Joy, New Forest Winter, Fa La La, Swell & Sweet Christmas.)
Block Order: To grow our skills, we will start stitching the simplest blocks first and building up to the most complicated. However, you can sew them in whatever order you like.
How Fast Will It Be?: We will be sharing a new block every other week. Depending on the block, you will need to stitch a few blocks each week to complete your quilt top. This is an easy-going pace that will keep the season stress free.
