Colorful scraps make this pillow project a beauty! It’s the range of color and patterns that grab us every time.  While many beginners hesitate to try their hand at the dresden but we assure you, this classic shape is so much easier to make that it looks.

Let’s take a look at how Carolyn Beam with Quilt Magazine puts her dresden plates together.  In the video, Carolyn shows you just how easy it is create each blade of the dresden and assemble them evenly, creating a flat plate.  The results are perfect each and every time. Once you have this technique down, you will want to make them in every size!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS PROJECT:

• assorted fabric scraps
• background fabric
• 17″ pillow insert
• double sided fusible
• thread to match
• iron
• dresden plate ruler– *this is optional for a cleaner outlook

Let’s take a close up look at the center of the dresden. A special message and ribbon rose flower are highlighted by miscellaneous buttons found in our jar. This little detail adds a bit a whimsy and that special touch to this pillow project.

Plus, did you spot the cover fabric? Simple burlap creates a textured backdrop that allows our prints to really POP off the pillow! It’s that type of out of the box thinking that really inspires us to do more with our scraps.
