Flower Girl Quilt
| |Flowers make me smile, and this time of year they really shine. The Flower Girl Quilt is a fat quarter friendly quilt pattern that fills your room with lovely flowers.
The blocks finish at 16″ x 16″, so each block makes quite an impact. The finished quilt is a twin size 78″ x 96″. Use individual blocks for an adorable pillow cover. The Flower Girl Quilt is perfect for a baby quilt or little girl’s bedroom.
Materials Needed:
- 20 fat quarters for petals and centers
- 7 fat quarters for leaves
- 1 fat quarter for sashing corner units
- 3-1/4 yards white fabric
- 5-3/4 yards backing fabric
- 3/4 yards binding fabric
- 82” x 100” cotton quilt batting
- Rotary cutter, quilting ruler, and quilt mat
- Sewing machine
- Iron
The ombre effect and white flower centers make the quilt below look like a totally different pattern. The quilt above uses smaller blocks and spaces them out with a center square. Use these ideas and more to put your own spin on the Flower Girl Quilt.
Once you have your Flower Girl flimsy stitched up, it’s time to think about creating that final quilt sandwich and adding those decorative stitches. With so many different stitch patterns to choose from, we wanted to share how amazing it would look using free motion quilting.
Take a look at how Beth Maitland at Drama Queen Bee Quilt Studio stitches it with ease. She demonstrates some lovely long arm quilting with the Flower Girl Quilt.
