FLOWER CUSHION PILLOW DETAILS:
Finished Cover Size: 16 1/2″ square
Special Finishes: ruffled center + mock piping
Assorted scraps cut out in the unique clamshell shape create the flower shape focal point. This shape can be both time consuming and difficult to cut by hand. However, did you know that you can cut up to 6 clamshell shapes at a time? Using the AccuQuilt GO! cutter, you can stack your scraps and with one roll through the GO! Not only does this cutting technique reduce time at the cutting table but it ensures accuracy and gets us to the machine 10 times faster!
Let’s take a look at the AccuQuilt GO! cutter in action. The video will show you just how easy it is to stack your scraps and roll them through the cutter. The results are perfectly cut shapes each and every time.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS PROJECT:
- assorted fabric scraps
- background fabric
- 17″ piece quilt batting
- AccuQuilt GO! Cutter
- clamshell 4″ dye
- thread to match
- binding clips
- sewing machine
Let’s take a close up look at the flower. Each piece is made with the clamshell dye and appliqued down with top stitching. This is a great way to add a burst of color to any room in your house while using up your scraps.
Plus, did you spot that binding detail? It looks just as good as piping but uses a standard quilting technique. The best part is this feature detail allows the pillow cushion corners to stay in a nice sharp point. No more rounded edges.
