Starburst Tree Skirt Tutorial
| |We shared 10 Tree Skirt patterns and tutorials with you the other day, but we have one more to highlight. The Starburst Tree Skirt uses the quilt-as-you-go method and has potential for really busting through your scraps.
The Quilt As You Go technique (QAYG) is a way to quilt blocks before putting a quilt together. QAYG is the most budget-friendly way to quilt. Instead of creating a large piece that needs to be sent to a longarm quilter, QAYG employs simple quilting, one block or section at a time. Here at Sewing With Scraps we love the opportunity to use small pieces of batting scraps for quilt as you go projects.
You will want to use a large variety of prints to create the scrappy tree skirt of your dreams. The tutorial suggests at least 12. You can make it as random or as uniform as you want, but we encourage you to let in a little chaos. The most dramatic starbursts utilize light/dark values of your fabrics. By combining darks and lights, the bursts really make a statement.
