Amy from Diary of a Quilter has a fabulous tutorial showing you just how quickly these types of projects can come together once you have have sorted through your fabric strips. Sewing a series of repetitive straight lines becomes almost meditative.

The beauty in these blocks is the variety of ways you can arrange them to create a one of a kind quilt. The mix of prints and patterns is a treat for the eye.

What you will need: 

  • Assorted string-y scraps of your favorite fabric no wider than 1 1/2” and between 3” and 13 1/2” in length.
  • Quilt batting
  • Fabric for backing
  • fabric for binding
  • 4 pieces of paper 8 1/2” x 8 1/2”
  • Sewing machine
  • Rotary cutter and ruler
